Rail Tampers

Handheld gas-powered railroad tie tampers deliver portable, high-impact compaction for spot tamping, turnout maintenance, and confined-area ballast consolidation where larger machines can’t reach. Powered by small gasoline engines, these tampers combine a narrow-foot, high-frequency tamping head with guide handles and vibration isolation to pack ballast under and around sleepers quickly restoring track geometry and improving tie support without mobilizing heavy equipment. Their mobility makes them ideal for short line work, yard crews, transit maintenance, utility spurs, and emergency repairs.
