Tornado Blower

A Tornado blower is the electric fan crews drop next to a tank, manhole or process vessel to force fresh air in or pull fumes out before anyone enters. Texas Pneumatic builds it in 8 in., 12 in. and 16 in. sizes with either an explosion-proof motor certified for NEMA Class 1, Div. 1, Group D and Class II, Group E, F and G areas, or a totally enclosed fan cooled motor for non-hazardous work. Housings are heavy-gauge rolled and welded steel with no castings to crack, and every unit arrives assembled with 25 ft of Extra Hard Use cable. Explosion-Proof or TEFC

Pick the motor to the atmosphere. Explosion-proof units are certified for NEMA Class 1, Div. 1, Group D and Class II, Group E, F and G areas and are assembled with explosion-proof junction boxes, cords and plugs — the build refineries, petrochemical plants and paint booths require. TEFC units use weatherproof boxes and plugs and cover ordinary tank, vault and manhole work where no flammable vapor is present.

Sizes, Power and Build

Three sizes cover most confined-space work: 8, 12 and 16 in. Motors are rated 115 v or 230 v single phase at 50/60 Hz and switch between the two at the rear of the motor housing; higher voltages and three-phase are available. Fan blades are polymer as standard and solid aluminum optional, the steel outlet adapter has welded guide vanes to stop rattle, and bolts are stainless under a powder-coated housing.

Ducting, Carts and Stands

A dual inlet adapter, a tote cart with straps, an air mover stand and SAC-N-GO ducting in conductive black or non-conductive yellow are offered to match the blower diameter. Full-size 30 ft duct runs in 8, 12 and 16 in. push together cuff-to-end when the work face is well past the fan.

When a Different Fan Fits Better
