Rhino PD Chucks and Adapters
A Rhino PD post driver sets whatever its chuck is shaped to hold, and two parts control that: the master chuck that mounts to the driver, and the adapter that steps the chuck bore down to the post. The PD-55 master chuck runs a 3-7/8 in. (98.4 mm) inner diameter for medium-duty production driving, while the PD-200 master chuck is listed in 5-1/2 in. and 7 in. assemblies alongside 4 in. round, 4 in. square, 4 x 6 wood, H-column, slotted sheet pile and 6 in. square profiles. Master Chuck First, Adapter Second
The master chuck is the permanent piece — buy it once for the driver you own. The PD-110 and PD-140 both run a 4-1/4 in. master chuck, with a 4-3/4 in. assembly available for oversized post, and a 4-1/4 in. chuck is offered for the PD-55 so that driver can take PD-110 adapters. Adapters are the consumable half; reorder them as the post mix on the crew changes.
Adapter Ranges by Driver
Adapters are driver-specific. Check the model on the tool before ordering, because a PD-200 insert will not seat in a PD-55 chuck.

Profiles Beyond Round Pipe
Sign and highway work is where the odd shapes turn up. U-channel adapters are ordered by channel weight in the 1 to 1.5, 2 to 2.75 and 3 to 4 lb classes. The Post Master adapter preserves the three-rib profile on Master Halco’s steel fence post, and Telespar adapters take square break-away anchor sleeves. On the PD-140, the 4 x 6 H-column guardrail adapter has to be paired with the matching 4 x 6 H-column driving cap and its 4-1/4 x 6-1/4 in. drive profile.
Common Questions
Which adapter drives T-posts? On the PD-55, the heavy-duty 2 in. round — it is built with thicker walls than the standard 2 in. round because studded T-post is hard on an insert at production cycle counts.
Can I run PD-110 adapters on a PD-55? Only with the optional 4-1/4 in. master chuck for the PD-55. The standard PD-55 chuck bore is 3-7/8 in., so PD-110 inserts will not seat in it.
What drives Schedule 40 pipe? A drive cap rather than a round insert. Caps with T-bar and clip in 3 in. and 3-1/2 in. are listed with the PD-110, PD-140 and PD-200 adapters, and larger pipe caps are in the Rhino PD pneumatic accessory range.
