Soil Stabilization
Soil stabilization tooling drills, anchors and grouts ground that will not hold on its own — cut slopes, retaining walls, failing footings and tunnel portals. Two families cover the work. Steel, bits and adapters build the string: R32 10 ft anchor rods, three-wing drag bits for clay and sand, carbide cross bits for mixed ground, and the couplings and nuts that extend and lock it. How a Soil Nail or Micropile Hole Gets Built
The sequence rarely changes. A drill turns a threaded rod string into the slope, a bit at the toe cuts soil or soft rock, and grout is pumped down that same string. Everything here serves one of those steps — cutting, extending, sealing, injecting. Handheld pneumatic rock drills sit elsewhere in the catalog.
Steel, Bits and Adapters
The drilling half. Anchor rods, bits, couplings and nuts run on the R32 rope thread. A MAI L&N coupling in R32/42 joins 10 ft rods; an R32/SW46 nut locks the head. Drag and steel soil bits handle loose material, carbide cross and button bits handle rock.
RotoJec and Grout Swivels
The grouting half. A complete grout swivel holds the inlet still while the string rotates, so hose does not wrap or blow a fitting. Shanks, grout bodies and flushing collars run standard, heavy, super and H90/T103 super heavy duty, from 3 to 5 in. shank OD.
Thread Systems You Will See Here
Most of the ground steel is R32, with R42 on the coupling body and an SW46 hex on the nut. Swivel and shank connections run wider — R32/X32, H64, X76, H90/T103 — because they mate to the drill, not the anchor. Common Questions
What is a grout swivel? A rotating union between a fixed grout hose and a turning drill string. Grout enters the stationary inlet and runs down the shank to the bit. See the grout body.
Do you do soil stabilization work in Denver? No — we supply, we do not contract. Crowder stocks the tooling that soil nailing and micropile crews consume, ships it from Denver, and quotes by the string.
Do you carry grouting rods? We stock R32N rod in 10 ft lengths with matching couplings. Grout runs down that same string from the swivel, so one set of steel both drills and grouts.
How do these differ from rock drill bits? These cut soil, clay and soft rock on a rotary anchor string. Rock drill bits are carbide bits for percussive top-hammer work in hard rock.
