The Round Pin Pipe Driver drives steel pipe with a paving breaker by fitting inside the pipe rather than capping it: the round drive nose is machined 1/32 in. smaller than the pipes inside diameter, so it seats in the bore, keeps the pipe aligned through the drive and prevents the end from mushrooming or splitting. Pins are available for pipe inside diameters from 1-1/4 in. up to 3 in., covering common fence, sign and utility pipe.
Like the other large taper ground tools, the pin must be used with our large taper detachable shank, sold separately, which connects it to the breaker. Where the job calls for capping pipe instead of pinning it, the pipe driver cup takes that approach, and the wider set of hex shank drive tools includes drive caps and tamping pads.
