An in-line lubricator is a pneumatic or hydraulic accessory installed directly into an air or fluid line to automatically inject lubricant (typically oil or grease) into the system. It ensures that moving components such as tools, cylinders, valves, or motors receive a consistent supply of lubricant to reduce wear and friction during operation.In-line lubricators are especially important in systems where manual lubrication is difficult or inconsistent, such as with pneumatic tools, rock drills, and hydraulic breakers.
- Design:
- Lubricant Reservoir -Holds a supply of oil or lubricant (typically 100500 ml); can be made of metal, clear polycarbonate, or nylon for visibility
- Metering Valve / Flow Control -Adjustable needle valve or orifice that regulates the oil feed rate based on flow or pressure
- Sight Dome / Indicator -Allows operators to monitor the flow of lubricant (often a drop-rate indicator)
- Inlet/Outlet Ports -Threaded connectors (NPT, BSP, etc.) to allow integration between tool and supply hose
- Self-Priming Function -Many lubricators can automatically draw lubricant from the reservoir as air or hydraulic flow passes through

- Materials: Body is anodized aluminum, brass or stainless steel making it corrosion-resistant and lightweight. Internal valves and needle is stainless steel or brass for wear-resistance and precise flow control. Seals and o-rings are nitrile or viton for chemical and pressure resistance. Sight dome is acrylic or clear polycarbonate for visual monitoring of lubrication rate.
