Atlas Copco Rivet Busters — Pneumatic Rivet Guns for Steel & Demolition

The rivet buster is the bridge crew’s tool: a long-stroke pneumatic gun that drives hot rivets, shears old ones out, and moonlights as a horizontal demolition hammer on tanks, decks, and structural steel. We stock the TEX 14 and quote the current TEX 626/830/1133 stroke line.

Rivet Buster Questions

What is a rivet buster?

A long-stroke pneumatic hammer built to drive hot rivets and shear old ones out of structural steel — and, fitted with demolition tools, to work as a horizontal concrete breaker. Bridge rehab, tank teardown, and deck demolition are its home turf.

Is a rivet buster the same as a rivet gun?

Crews use both names for this tool, so yes — if you mean structural rivets. If you are after a small air hammer for aircraft or sheet-metal rivets, that is a different, much lighter tool family we do not stock; these start at 26 lb and hit like breakers.

Which stroke length do I need?

Short 6 in. stroke gives faster cycling and finer control for driving; the 11 in. stroke stores the biggest single blow for busting corroded rivets and heavy demolition. The 8 in. TEX 830 is the middle path most crews pick for mixed work.

What applications suit a rivet buster?

Driving and removing structural rivets, cutting tank seams and plate, horizontal and overhead concrete demolition on bridge decks and beam ends, and general steel disassembly where a chipping hammer is too light and a paving breaker points the wrong way.

What tools and steel fit?

Jumbo-shank rivet sets, backout punches, and demolition chisels — stocked in our rivet busters category alongside the guns.

What air supply do they need?

44–50 CFM at 90 psi through a 1/2 in. NPT inlet — any 70-CFM class compressor runs one buster with headroom, with an inline oiler keeping the piston alive.

How fast do they ship?

The TEX 14 ships same day, free UPS Ground, on orders by 4 PM Eastern. The TEX 626/830/1133 line is quoted and ordered by phone at 1-888-883-5144.
