TEHMA Rock & Concrete Splitters — SP400, SP400-SW & SP600
Handheld hydraulic splitters that crack rock and concrete from the inside — up to 1,944,600 lbf of splitting force from a drilled hole, with no noise, no vibration, no dust, and no blasting permits. Buy the splitter alone or as a ready-to-run kit with the PP600 or PP700 power pack, and add it to your cart right on this page.
The short version
Most crews buy the kit: splitter, power pack, and hoses in one order — from $22,595 with an electric pack. Pick the SP400 for all-around work, the SP400-SW when smaller, faster drill holes matter, and the SP600 for thick sections and hard rock. Already own a 10,150 psi (700 bar) pack? Tool-only splitters start at $11,610. Comparing brands? Browse all rock & concrete splitters we stock, including Darda — or call 1-888-883-5144.
How TEHMA Splitting Works
Drill a hole, insert the cylinder, and 8,702 psi (600 bar) of hydraulic pressure drives the central wedge between two counter wedges until the material cracks — in seconds. Rock and concrete are weak in tension, so the splitter breaks from the inside what a breaker has to pound from the outside.

One splitting cycle, three sizes
All three splitters share the same wedge-and-counter-wedge cycle and run from the same PP-series packs — they differ in force, drill hole size, and reach. Every model works in the presence of water, including full underwater demolition.
Splitter + Power Pack
The way most crews buy: splitter, power pack, and high-pressure hoses ready to run. Pick your power pack — electric for indoors and night work, pneumatic for plant air, gas for remote sites — and add the kit to your cart.

SP400 Splitter Kit
The all-around kit: 813,800 lbf from a 1.8–1.98 in. hole. Concrete foundations, floor slabs, pile heads, trench rock, confined spaces.
Choose it when: you want one splitter that covers most concrete demolition and rock removal.
Key specs

SP400 Small Wedge Kit
The small-hole specialist: 1,366,800 lbf from a 1.37–1.41 in. hole that drills faster and cheaper. Granite and marble block production, presspipe work, cross passages.
Choose it when: drilling time rules the job — natural stone, or hard rock where hole diameter costs you.
Key specs

SP600 Splitter Kit
The heavy hitter: 1,944,600 lbf and 25.2 in. of reach for thick foundations, bridge decks and abutments, retaining walls, and hard granite. Four power pack options including the high-flow PP700.
Choose it when: the concrete is thick, the rock is hard, and you split all day.

Already Own a Power Pack? Splitters, Tool Only
Every splitter runs on any TEHMA PP-series pack — add a second cylinder to a crew without doubling up on power.

SP400 Splitter
The all-around splitter alone — same 813,800 lbf cylinder as the kit.
Choose it when: you are adding a splitter to a crew whose pack is already on the truck.
Key specs

SP400 Small Wedge Splitter
The small-hole version alone — 1,366,800 lbf from a 1.37–1.41 in. hole.
Choose it when: you run block production or tight-access splitting off a pack you own.
Key specs

SP600 Splitter
The 79-lb heavy splitter alone — 1,944,600 lbf and 25.2 in. reach.
Choose it when: your pack is covered and the job calls for the deepest cylinder in the line.

Wedges are the wear parts of a splitter — keep a set on the shelf and grease them every cycle.
Rock & Concrete Splitter Questions
What is a hydraulic rock and concrete splitter?
A handheld hydraulic tool that breaks rock and concrete from the inside. You drill a hole, insert the splitter cylinder, and the power pack forces a central wedge between two counter wedges at 8,702 psi (600 bar), loading the hole walls with up to 1,944,600 lbf until the material cracks — usually in seconds, with no noise, vibration, dust, or flyrock.
Which TEHMA splitter should I buy?
The SP400 covers most demolition and rock removal. The SP400-SW small wedge delivers more force (1,366,800 lbf) from a smaller 1.37–1.41 in. hole that drills faster — the pick for natural stone block production and hard rock. The SP600 goes deepest (25.2 in.) with the most force (1,944,600 lbf) for thick foundations, bridge decks, and retaining walls. The comparison table above puts them side by side.
What size hole do I drill, and with what drill?
SP400 and SP600: 1.8–1.98 in. (45–48mm), at least 17.5 in. deep for the SP400 and 25.2 in. for the SP600. SP400-SW: 1.37–1.41 in. (35–36mm), 17.5 in. deep. Any pneumatic or gas rock drill that pulls those diameters works — we stock rock drills and steel to pair on the same order.
How much does a TEHMA rock splitter cost?
Tool-only: SP400 $11,610, SP400-SW $12,060, SP600 $15,470. Complete kits with power pack and hoses: SP400 from $22,595, SP400-SW from $22,761, SP600 from $26,378 — the exact kit price depends on the power pack you pick in the widget above.
Which power pack should I pick in the kit?
Electric with cooling (110–120V @ 25A) for indoor, night, underground, and occupied-building work. Pneumatic (127 CFM @ 100 psi) for mines and plants with compressed air. Gas (Honda GX160) for remote sites with no power. The SP600 kit also offers the high-flow PP700 electric — 70% more first-stage flow for faster cycles. Full details on the power packs page.
Can TEHMA splitters work underwater?
Yes — all three models are rated for work in the presence of water and full underwater demolition, with the power pack staying dry on the surface. Cofferdams, pile heads at the waterline, and flood-rescue work are all in scope.
What maintenance do the wedges need?
Grease the central and counter wedges every splitting cycle with TEHMA wedge grease — it is the single habit that determines wedge life. Wedge sets are wear parts; we stock replacements for both the SP400 and SP600 above, plus AW46 zinc-free oil for the packs.
Do you carry other splitter brands?
Yes — we stock the Darda C-series splitters alongside TEHMA, and the all-brands splitter category shows everything side by side. Call 1-888-883-5144 and we will compare them against your actual job.
