Tamco/Toku 00BA Rammer

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bench rammer used for?

A bench rammer is a small pneumatic tool that packs molding sand around a pattern in a foundry, or rams refractory and other material in tight production spaces. Consistent ramming force is what gives a sound mold; hand ramming is slower and far less repeatable.

Which size rammer do I need?

Stroke and weight track the work. The 00BA (3.75 lb) is for pattern detail and small cores where a bigger tool would crush the mold. The 0BR runs 2,500 BPM with a short stroke for tight packing. The 2BAR is the middle setting most foundries standardize on. The 1BA’s 4 in. stroke delivers fewer, harder blows for deep molds and large flasks.

Can I get steel or rubber heads?

Yes — optional steel or rubber heads are available for all four rammers. They are not stocked online; call 1-888-883-5144 and we will add them to your order.

Is a bench rammer the same as a backfill tamper?

No. Bench rammers are bench-scale foundry and mill tools. A backfill tamper such as the Jet-06 is a 39.6 lb jobsite tool on a 49 in. shaft for compacting trenches and foundations.

Is Tamco the same as Toku?

Yes — TOKU of Japan manufactures and TAMCO Tools distributes in the US. The catalog lists these as SF-00BA, SF-OBR, SF-2BAR and SF-1BA. See the Toku brand page.
