TOKU Bench Rammers — Pneumatic Sand Rammers
Four sizes of air rammer for the foundry, mill or shop bench — compacting molding sand and ramming material in confined spaces where jobsite compaction equipment cannot go. Optional steel or rubber heads on every model.
The short version
Pattern detail and small cores? The 00BA at 3.75 lb. High-frequency packing without disturbing the pattern? The 0BR at 2,500 BPM. General mold work? The 2BAR is the shop standard. Deep molds and large flasks? The 1BA with its full 4 in. stroke. See all bench and sand rammers, or for trench and foundation compaction see backfill tampers. Call 1-888-883-5144.

Shop the Four Rammers

Tamco/Toku 00BA Rammer
The smallest rammer Toku builds — 3.75 lb with an S-taper and a 1-3/4 in. butt. Made for pattern detail and small cores where a full-size rammer would crush the mold.
3.75 lb · 11-3/4 in. long · 1,600 BPM · 2 in. stroke · 11/16 in. bore

Tamco/Toku 0BR Rammer
The fastest rammer in the line at 2,500 BPM with a short 2 in. stroke — high-frequency, low-impact compaction that packs sand tightly without disturbing the pattern.
6.65 lb · 16-1/2 in. long · 2,500 BPM · 2 in. stroke · 1 in. bore

Tamco/Toku 2BAR Rammer
A 2-1/2 in. stroke at 1,725 BPM — the middle setting between the fast 0BR and the heavy 1BA, and the one most foundries end up standardizing on for general mold work.
7.125 lb · 15-1/4 in. long · 1,725 BPM · 2-1/2 in. stroke · 1 in. bore

Tamco/Toku 1BA Rammer
The heavy rammer — a full 4 in. stroke at 1,240 BPM. Fewer, harder blows for deep molds and large flasks where the lighter tools cannot reach compaction at the bottom.
10 lb · 20-1/4 in. long · 1,240 BPM · 4 in. stroke · 1 in. bore

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a bench rammer used for?
A bench rammer is a small pneumatic tool that packs molding sand around a pattern in a foundry, or rams refractory and other material in tight production spaces. Consistent ramming force is what gives a sound mold; hand ramming is slower and far less repeatable.
Which size rammer do I need?
Stroke and weight track the work. The 00BA (3.75 lb) is for pattern detail and small cores where a bigger tool would crush the mold. The 0BR runs 2,500 BPM with a short stroke for tight packing. The 2BAR is the middle setting most foundries standardize on. The 1BA’s 4 in. stroke delivers fewer, harder blows for deep molds and large flasks.
Can I get steel or rubber heads?
Yes — optional steel or rubber heads are available for all four rammers. They are not stocked online; call 1-888-883-5144 and we will add them to your order.
Is a bench rammer the same as a backfill tamper?
No. Bench rammers are bench-scale foundry and mill tools. A backfill tamper such as the Jet-06 is a 39.6 lb jobsite tool on a 49 in. shaft for compacting trenches and foundations.
Is Tamco the same as Toku?
Yes — TOKU of Japan manufactures and TAMCO Tools distributes in the US. The catalog lists these as SF-00BA, SF-OBR, SF-2BAR and SF-1BA. See the Toku brand page.
