The Chicago Pneumatic Red Hawk Rail is a gas powered rail tamper that packs ballast under ties with no compressor, hoses or external power source in tow. It delivers almost twice the impact energy of other gas-driven tools on the market with a power-to-weight ratio comparable to many pneumatic and hydraulic breakers, while ergonomic vibration-reducing handles take the sting out of long tamping shifts.
Independence from hoses is the point: where a tow-behind compressor or hydraulic power pack cannot follow the track, the Red Hawk carries its own power. A hand throttle gives precise control and the spring-loaded kill switch returns to its starting position after shutdown.
