The Chicago Pneumatic Red Hawk Rail is a gas powered rail tamper that packs ballast under ties with no compressor, hoses or external power source in tow. It delivers almost twice the impact energy of other gas-driven tools on the market with a power-to-weight ratio comparable to many pneumatic and hydraulic breakers, while ergonomic vibration-reducing handles take the sting out of long tamping shifts.
Independence from hoses is the point: where a tow-behind compressor or hydraulic power pack cannot follow the track, the Red Hawk carries its own power. A hand throttle gives precise control and the spring-loaded kill switch returns to its starting position after shutdown. Crowder Supply also stocks the Red Hawk gas rock drill and paving breaker on the same platform, plus the Atlas Copco Cobra TT gas tie tamper for the same off-grid tamping work.
