The CP8854 is the field-service impact gun — 88 ft-lb in a compact 18 V package. The CP86 and eBlueTork platforms are different animals: gear-driven battery torque multipliers that pull joints to a set value and, in connected versions, log every result for QA. When does cordless beat air?
When there is no air: roadside tire service, field repair on equipment, wind and solar sites, bridge and flange work far from a compressor. On shop air, the pneumatic guns are lighter, cheaper, and never wait for a charger — which is exactly why CP keeps the cordless line short and specialized rather than pretending it replaces the air catalog.
What is the difference between the CP86 and the eBlueTork CP8609?
Both are 36 V battery torque wrenches. The CP86 family covers the widest torque span — 220 to 5,970 ft-lb across drive sizes to 1-1/2 in. — in standard, connected, connected-quality, and torque-check versions. The eBlueTork CP8609 is the electronics-forward 664 ft-lb platform with trigger, reaction-arm, and data options for QA-driven processes. Both build to order; we quote the exact configuration.
What does a “connected” torque wrench actually do?
It records every tightening — target, achieved torque, pass/fail — and reports it over the tool’s connectivity for QA documentation. Wind, flange, and structural contracts increasingly require exactly that audit trail. If your spec just says “torque to X”, the standard version saves real money; if it says “documented”, buy connected.
