The short version
OSHA 1926.1153 changed how construction handles respirable crystalline silica, and a portable collector at the tool is the practical answer for cutting, grinding and drilling concrete. The Texas Pneumatic TX-DCS range runs on the same compressed air as the tools: a cyclonic pre-separator removes more than 90 percent of dust and debris first, then a washable HEPA filter takes it down to 0.3 micron at 99.97 percent efficiency, with a 2 to 3 year filter life. The unit can sit up to 30 ft from the work area, so the operator is not standing next to the collected dust. Three systems: TX-DCS2 (20 or 30 gal canister), TX-DCS3, and the multi-user TX-DCS-MU in three- or five-line form. All-brands: dust collection systems.

Why this design
Cyclonic pre-separation
More than 90 percent of dust and debris drops out in the cyclone before it ever reaches the filter. That is what makes a 2 to 3 year HEPA life realistic instead of theoretical.

Do these systems meet OSHA 1926.1153?
Texas Pneumatic builds the TX-DCS range to conform to OSHA standard 1926.1153, the construction standard for respirable crystalline silica. Compliance on your job also depends on using the right tool and shroud combination and following the standard’s other requirements, so treat the collector as one part of the control, not the whole of it.
What does the HEPA filter capture?
Down to 0.3 micron at 99.97 percent efficiency. The filter has a 2 to 3 year life expectancy and can be washed rather than replaced, which is only realistic because the cyclonic pre-separator has already taken more than 90 percent of the load out of the stream.
How far from the work can the collector sit?
Up to 30 ft. That distance matters: it keeps the collected dust, and the operator’s exposure to it, away from the breathing zone at the cut.
Wet cutting or dry collection?
Wet methods suppress dust effectively but produce slurry, and slurry has to be contained, collected and disposed of — which is its own cost line and its own mess on a finished floor. Dry collection puts the dust in a canister you empty into a bag. Where wet cutting is impractical or unwelcome, this is the alternative.
What is the difference between the TX-DCS2 and TX-DCS3?
Both are single-user units with 42 in of vacuum suction. The TX-DCS2 uses 40 CFM and comes with a 20 or 30 gallon canister at $1,975 to $2,075. The TX-DCS3 uses 45 CFM, carries a 20 gallon canister and lists at $3,495 — the heavier-duty build for continuous production cutting.
How many operators can share one system?
The TX-DCS-MU3 runs three vacuum lines on 120 CFM; the TX-DCS-MU5 runs five lines on 245 CFM. Check that figure against your compressor before you commit — 245 CFM is a serious draw and it is in addition to whatever the tools themselves consume.
Does it work with electric tools?
Yes. The collector runs on compressed air but it works with all air-powered and electric tools. The connection is the vacuum line and the shroud, not the tool’s power source.
