Confined-Space Ventilation and Blowers
Tanks, vaults, manholes and process vessels need air pushed in or fumes pulled out. Electric Tornado blowers come in explosion-proof and TEFC motor builds; air-driven jet fans use compressed-air jets on the blade trailing edges and have almost no rotating mass; water-driven marine blowers run off fire hose pressure for tanker degassing; and pipe line blowers bolt to a 2 or 3 in. pipe connection to draw air out of a line.
Getting the Air to the Work Face
A blower only helps if its output reaches the crew. Flexible air ducting in 8, 12 and 16 in. carries supply or suction 30 ft per section, and sections push together cuff-to-end with no connectors. Cooling Crews and Shop Floors
For heat rather than fumes, electric man coolers run 18 to 48 in. on casters with tilting heads, while compressed-air venturi air movers in 3 to 10 in. horns need no power drop and can take a dust collection bag. Add water and an air mister turns the same airstream into evaporative cooling for turnarounds, outages and outdoor work.
Storing, Splitting and Drying Compressed Air
Compressed air storage smooths out the peaks. Air receiver tanks in 80, 120 and 400 gal. hold reserve volume, kill compressor pulsation and give moisture a place to collect and drain. Air manifolds from 2.5 to 60 gal. are ASME coded and OSHA compliant and fan a single line out to crowfoot outlets for a sandblast or breaker crew.
Clean Air at the Tool
Water and dust are the two things that shorten tool life. A moisture separation system strips condensate before it reaches the hose, and dust collection systems capture respirable silica at the point of work through a HEPA filter.
