The Tamco/Toku TJ-15 is a 30 lb class pneumatic sinker rock drill for pedestal-style downward drilling anchor-bolt holes, foundation pins and small-diameter blast holes where the operator’s weight feeds the bit. At 31 lb and 18-1/2 in. long it carries easily between holes, and 2,450 BPM on just 56 CFM keeps it productive alongside the dedicated models in our sinker drills category.

Chuck options are 7/8 x 3-1/4 or 7/8 x 4-1/4 in. hex, running standard shanked drill steel with carbide rock drill bits sized to the hole. A 100 CFM compressor supports one drill; 185 and 375 CFM units run several. Behind it all is Toku’s 1-1/8 in. bore, 1-3/4 in. stroke percussion motor and decades of Japanese export pedigree and the guide to choosing drill steel and rock drill bits covers the pairings.

  • 30 lb class sinker configuration; 31 lb tool weight, 18-1/2 in. overall length
  • 2,450 BPM impact rate from a 1-1/8 in. bore x 1-3/4 in. stroke percussion motor
  • 56 CFM at 90 PSI air demand; a 100 CFM compressor supports single-tool operation
  • Chuck sizes: 7/8 x 3-1/4 and 7/8 x 4-1/4 in. hex
  • Applications: anchor-bolt holes, foundation pins, secondary breaking and small-diameter blast holes
  • Built by Toku, a long-established Japanese pneumatic-tool manufacturer with a deep export catalog of rock-drilling and demolition tools
  • Stocked in Denver by Crowder Supply with steels, bits, replacement chucks, pistons and seal kits

TJ-15 FAQ

What size compressor runs the TJ-15?
It draws 56 CFM at 90 PSI, so a 100 CFM compressor supports one drill; 185 and 375 CFM machines keep several working at once.

What drill steel fits the TJ-15?
Chuck options are 7/8 x 3-1/4 in. and 7/8 x 4-1/4 in. hex standard shanked steel in the matching size, tipped with carbide bits sized to the hole.

Toku TJ-15 or Chicago Pneumatic CP 0022 which sinker?
Both are 30 lb class sinkers drawing 56 CFM. The TJ-15 hits faster (2,450 vs 2,220 BPM) in a slightly lighter, shorter body, while the CP 0022 adds a 3/4 x 4-1/4 in. chuck option for crews running the smaller steel.
