The Tamco/Toku TS-55 often just called the Toku 55 is a 60 lb class handheld pneumatic rock drill built for production work: anchor-hole drilling, foundation pins, quarry bench work and rock bolting. A long 2-9/16 in. piston stroke gives each one of its 1,800 blows per minute real energy, which is why crews drilling hard rock all shift long choose the TS-55 over lighter pneumatic rock drills.

Three hex chucks 7/8 x 3-1/4, 7/8 x 4-1/4 and 1 x 4-1/4 in. take standard shanked drill steel tipped with carbide rock drill bits. Air demand is 92 CFM at 90 PSI, so plan one 185 CFM compressor per tool. Toku is a long-established Japanese pneumatic-tool maker with a deep export catalog, and the rock drill buyer’s guide helps confirm 60 lb is the right class for your rock.

  • 60 lb class production drill; tool weight 5962 lb by chuck, 22-3/8 in. overall length
  • 1,800 BPM with a 2-9/16 in. piston stroke for high impact energy per blow
  • 92 CFM at 90 PSI air demand; size one 185 CFM compressor per drill
  • Chuck options: 7/8 x 3-1/4, 7/8 x 4-1/4 and 1 x 4-1/4 in. hex
  • Applications: anchor holes, foundation pins, quarry bench drilling, light blast holes and rock bolting
  • Built by Toku, a long-established Japanese pneumatic-tool manufacturer
  • Stocked in Denver by Crowder Supply with drill steels, bits, chucks, pistons and seal kits

TS-55 FAQ

Is the Toku 55 the same drill as the Tamco TS-55?
Yes — the TS-55 is built by Toku in Japan and sold in North America under the Tamco/Toku name, so crews call it either one.

How much air does the TS-55 need?
92 CFM at 90 PSI, so plan one 185 CFM compressor per drill to keep it at its full 1,800 BPM.

What drill steel fits it?
Three hex chucks are offered — 7/8 x 3-1/4, 7/8 x 4-1/4 and 1 x 4-1/4 in. — all taking standard shanked drill steel tipped with carbide bits.

Does the TS-55 drill wet or dry?
It is a dry-operation drill — there is no water flushing circuit, so it suits anchor holes, foundation pins and bench work where dry drilling is acceptable.
