Atlas Copco Pick Hammers & Spike Drivers — TEX 09, 10 & 12
The 22–27 lb class between a chipping hammer and a breaker: TEX pneumatic picks drive railroad spikes, cut light concrete and brick, and dig frozen or hard ground — on 36–47 CFM any small compressor supplies.
The short version
Spike driving and general pick work: the TEX 09 from $513. A slower, harder blow for tougher digging: the TEX 10. The heaviest blow of the trio: the TEX 12. Hydraulic crews use the LH picks and spike drivers instead.
The Three Picks
TEX 09 Pneumatic Pick Hammer
The fast one: 1,800 BPM on 39 CFM drives spikes and picks light concrete with the cap retainer, or the KL kick-latch for quick steel changes.
Choose it when: track spikes and general pick work are the daily bread.

TEX 10 Pneumatic Pick Hammer
The middle path: 1,350 BPM of slower, harder blows on just 36 CFM — the pick for hard digging and brittle demolition where blow energy beats frequency.
Choose it when: frozen ground, hard clay, and brick take priority over spike speed.
Key specs
TEX 12 Pneumatic Pick Hammer
The heavy hitter of the trio: 1,600 BPM on 47 CFM with the most iron behind the steel — light breaker work, heavy spike driving, and demolition in the 25-lb class.
Choose it when: one pick must stretch from spikes to genuine light-breaker duty.

Pick Hammer Questions
What is a pick hammer?
A 20–27 lb pneumatic hammer sized between a chipping hammer and a paving breaker — light enough to swing horizontally all day, strong enough to drive railroad spikes, cut brick and light concrete, and dig hard ground with a pick or spade steel.
Which TEX pick drives railroad spikes?
All three with a spike-driving tool in the 7/8 x 3-1/4 chuck. The TEX 09 cycles fastest; the TEX 12 hits hardest for stubborn spikes in aged hardwood ties.
What air do they need?
36–47 CFM at 90 psi — any single-tool compressor. Run an inline oiler; they are piston tools like their bigger brothers.
Pneumatic or hydraulic picks?
Air picks if compressors are your standard. The LH11 pick and LH 280 E spike driver run quieter off an LP pack for hi-rail hydraulic crews.
How fast do they ship?
In stock — free UPS Ground, same day on orders by 4 PM Eastern, with steels and spike tools in the same box.
