Texas Pneumatic · 3 to 10 in · Evaporative Cooling

Texas Pneumatic Air Misters

Venturi air movers with a water injection ring: the same motorless air stream, carrying a fine mist that drops ambient temperature by 10 to 30 degrees F along its path and knocks airborne dust out of the air.

The short version

An air mister is a venturi air mover with water added to the discharge. You get two effects for one tool: evaporative cooling — a 10 to 30 degree F drop in ambient temperature throughout the path of the stream — and dust suppression, because fine droplets capture airborne particulate and carry it to the ground. Four sizes: 3 in, 6 in, 8 in and 10 in, each available with or without a stand. No motor, no cord. All-brands: air misters. Dry air movement instead: venturi air movers. Capturing silica at the tool rather than in the air: dust collection systems.

Air mister questions, answered

How much does an air mister cool the air?

Texas Pneumatic rates the effect as a 10 to 30 degree F drop in ambient temperature throughout the path of the stream. The number you actually get depends on humidity — evaporative cooling works hardest in dry heat, which is why it performs well in Colorado, Nevada and Texas summers and less well on a humid Gulf Coast afternoon.

Does it work for dust control?

Yes, and for many buyers that is the primary reason. Fine droplets collide with airborne particulate, gain enough mass to fall, and take the dust to the ground with them. It is the standard approach for concrete cutting, demolition, crusher discharge and material handling. It is not a substitute for engineering controls where a specific OSHA standard applies — for respirable crystalline silica at the tool, see dust collection systems.

What water supply does it need?

A standard hose supply is enough for the units in this range; the air stream does the atomising, not water pressure. Water quality matters more than pressure — hard or dirty water will scale and clog the injection ring over time. Call 1-888-883-5144 if you are planning to run one continuously and we will talk through filtration.

What is the difference between the models with and without a stand?

The stand is a four-leg adjustable base that lets you aim the mister up or down and stand it anywhere, rather than needing something to sit it on or hang it from. The with-stand versions cost roughly $700 more across the range. If you already have air mover stands, buy the bare unit.

Is there a motor or any electrical connection?

No. Like the rest of the venturi range, an air mister has no motor, no blades and no cord. Compressed air does all the work, which is why it can be used in areas where an electric fogger cannot.

Air mister or plain air mover?

If you need ventilation, a plain air mover is cheaper and does not put water into the space — important in a vessel you are about to paint or weld. If you need cooling or dust knockdown in open air, the mister is the right tool.

Cooling a crew or knocking down dust?

Tell us the area, the heat and whether water on the ground is acceptable. We will size the mister and tell you if a plain air mover would serve you better.
