Darda Carrier-Mounted Concrete & Rock Splitters — C20 C, C20 J & the WIDA Drill & Split Rig

Production splitting off the machine: the C20 puts up to 1,800 tons of silent, vibration-free splitting force on a 5–7 ton excavator or Brokk robot, and the WIDA AB C20-T4 drill & split rig drills the hole and cracks it in one remote-controlled cycle. All quoted with wedge sets, mounting, and commissioning support.

Written by the Crowder Supply product team — we spec Darda systems for contractors, quarries, and tunnel crews every day. Free UPS Ground on wedges and accessories; flat-rate Freight on machines; Same Day Shipping on orders by 4 PM Eastern.

The short version

Splitting by hand instead? The C2S–C12 hand-held splitters sell online from $15,576. This page is the machine-mounted end of the line — C20 C and C20 J splitting attachments and the WIDA AB C20-T4 drill & split rig — all sold by quote because mounting and hydraulics are matched to your carrier. Darda C20 C & C20 J — Built for Carriers, Not Compressors

One splitting cylinder, two mounts: the C20 C hangs from a chain for vertical splitting; the C20 J rides a jib mount for horizontal work. Both run entirely off carrier hydraulics with an internal booster, so splitting force never depends on the machine.

How it works on your machine

Feed the C20 2,540–3,190 psi and 7–21 GPM from the carrier’s auxiliary circuit (two lines, in and out — same as running a shear) and the integrated pressure booster steps it up to a constant 7,250 psi at the wedge. Drill 3 in. holes, set the wedge, split — 1,500 tons theoretical force with the N set, 1,800 with the L. An automatic lubrication system greases the wedge at every cycle from an onboard reservoir (about 1.3 lb of Darda cartridge grease), so there is no manual greasing. Darda’s spacing rule for solid ledge: start holes 1–2 ft apart and let the rock tell you the pattern.

Swipe the table sideways for all columns.

With the chain option, the C20 must hang freely from the boom on the factory plate and chain (a shackle to a bucket ring works, hoses permitting); never lever or shake a stuck wedge sideways — it bends the set.

Drill & Split Rig WIDA AB C20-T4 — the Hole and the Split, One Machine

Not the same tool as the C20 C and J: where those split holes your drill has already made, the WIDA rig carries its own drill. One carrier head, one operator on a wireless remote, no machine changeover.

Wimmer drill + machine-guided Darda C20

The WIDA AB C20-T4 pairs a Wimmer AB2300 T4 drilling system with a machine-guided Darda C20 splitting cylinder on a single mount: drill the 3 in. hole, index over, split — a continuous drill-and-split cycle run entirely by the T6 wireless remote while the operator stands clear of the face. It mounts compact and tunnel excavators, works tunnel cross-sections from 11 ft 6 in. (3.5 m), and is built for tunneling, quarrying, and demolition where blasting is off the table and production cannot wait on a second machine.

Carrier-Mounted Questions, Answered

What carrier does the Darda C20 need?

A machine of 5 tons or more — 5–7 t is the recommended class, and Brokk 300, 500, and 520D demolition robots are factory-recommended fits. The carrier supplies 2,540–3,190 psi and 7–21 GPM on a two-line auxiliary circuit (plumbed like a shear, open and close); the C20’s internal booster makes the 7,250 psi splitting pressure, so carrier pressure never limits splitting force. Tell us your make and model and we confirm the match before anything ships.

C20 C or C20 J — which mount?

The C20 C hangs from a chain and works vertically — think benches, foundations, and quarry floors, 660 lb with the N wedge set. The C20 J adds the jib mount for horizontal and angled splitting — faces, walls, and tunnel headings, 860 lb. Same cylinder, same force, same wedge sets; the mount is about the direction your rock runs.

How is the C20 different from a hand-held C12?

Scale. The C12 tops out at 1,817,000 lbf from a 1.77–1.89 in. hand-drilled hole; the C20 delivers up to 3,968,000 lbf from 3 in. machine-drilled holes and never gets tired. The working principle, wedge care rules, and Darda grease are the same — a C12 crew steps up to a C20 without relearning the trade. If your volume still fits a two-man crew, the hand-held line is the better money.

What is the WIDA AB C20-T4 and how is it different from the C20?

It is a complete drill-and-split rig, not a splitting attachment: a Wimmer AB2300 T4 drill and a machine-guided Darda C20 cylinder share one carrier head, so the same machine drills the hole and splits it in a continuous cycle under a T6 wireless remote. Choose the C20 C or J when you already have drilling handled; choose the WIDA rig when one carrier and one operator should do the whole job — tunneling from 11 ft 6 in. cross-sections, quarrying, and no-blast demolition.

Does the C20 need a Darda power pack?

No — that is the point of the carrier-mounted line. The C20 and the WIDA rig run entirely off the carrier’s auxiliary hydraulics with pressure boosted internally. Darda power packs belong to the hand-held system.

How do I get pricing?

Both machines are quoted, not carted: mounting, wedge sets (N or L), hoses, and commissioning are matched to your carrier, and training can be arranged onsite. Call 1-888-883-5144 with your carrier make and model and the rock or concrete you are splitting — we will quote the full working package.
