Texas Pneumatic builds two: the TX00 at $590 on 12 CFM, the lightest way into pneumatic ramming, and the TX70B from $855 on 15 CFM, with non-revolving piston and long-reach options. Texas Pneumatic TX00 Sand Rammer
The simplest and least expensive rammer in the line. Standard reach, rubber butt, easy start and stop. If you are replacing hand ramming and want to try one tool first, this is it.

What is a sand rammer?
A pneumatic tool that packs molding sand around a pattern in a foundry. Consistent ramming density is what determines whether the mould holds its shape when the pattern is drawn and whether the casting comes out to size. Doing it by hand is slow and varies between operators and between hours of the shift.
TX00 or TX70B?
The TX00 at $590 on 12 CFM is the light, simple tool — a good first pneumatic rammer or a second tool for a bench. The TX70B from $855 on 15 CFM is heavier and offers non-revolving piston and long-reach options, which is what production moulding and deep flasks tend to need.
What is a non-revolving piston?
On a standard rammer the piston turns slightly with each stroke so wear spreads evenly around it. A non-revolving piston keeps its orientation fixed, which matters when the butt profile has to stay aligned to the work. On the TX70B it adds $145 over the standard tool.
Sand rammer or bench rammer?
The sand rammers here (TX00, TX70B) pack molding sand around patterns. The TX8 bench rammer is the longer-stroke bench and pattern tool, in 2-1/2 or 4 in stroke with five configurations. They are close relatives and plenty of foundries run both — if you are working at a bench with deep flasks, look at the TX8 first.
Is a sand rammer the same as a backfill tamper?
No. A backfill tamper is a construction tool for compacting soil in trenches, with a 6 in malleable iron butt and 38.5 CFM of air demand. A sand rammer is a foundry tool with a rubber butt running on 12 to 15 CFM. Do not substitute one for the other.
What does it ship with?
A rubber butt, and easy start and stop features built into the tool. Optional non-revolving pistons are a configuration choice at order time rather than a later add-on.
