The APT Model 118 is a medium-weight, D-handle pneumatic clay digger for clay, shale, hardpan and frozen ground. It earns its keep clearing out dirt from under existing foundations and tunneling beneath structures, and it works horizontally or vertically as the cut demands. The 118 shares its cylinder and most internal parts with the M117 and T-handle M119, so mixed fleets run on one set of spares.
Two chuck sizes 7/8 x 3-1/4 in. and 1 x 4-1/4 in. hex take standard clay digger points and chisels, held by a latch-type retainer, while a built-in automatic oiler keeps the case-hardened cylinder fed on long shifts.
