The BTE Mid-Western S83 Sinker Drill is a 60 lb class hand held pneumatic rock drill for downward-hole work: anchor-bolt holes, foundation pins, and small-diameter blast holes from 5/8 in. to 3 in.+ depending on steel and bit. It's the sinker configuration of the S83 platform — the same 3 in. bore, 2-1/2 in. stroke percussion motor BTE Mid-Western builds in the United States to the original Gardner Denver S83 design.

Air Supply & Lubrication

Feed the S83 what it needs and it will outlast the crew: 250 CFM at 90 PSI — plan on a 375-CFM tow-behind compressor — with an in-line oiler in the circuit and rock drill oil topped off before every shift. Starving a sinker of oil or running unregulated air shortens piston and chuck life more than any amount of hard rock.

Sinker or jackleg — which S83 do I need?

Wet or dry?
Wet runs water flush through the drill steel for dust suppression and hole cleaning — the pick for production drilling and enclosed work. Dry suits intermittent holes where water isn't practical on site.
