Tamco/Toku TS-55 Rock Drill
Built for the biggest jobs — larger-diameter bits and the deepest holes. A 2-9/16 in. stroke behind a 2-5/8 in. piston delivers the heaviest blow in the line, and it is the only Toku drill offered in all three shank sizes. Plan on roughly 92 CFM of compressor.

Tamco/Toku CP-9A Rock Drill
An 8 lb one-hand drill that gets into places no jackleg will — corners, tunnels, formwork, and overhead anchor holes. 3,400 BPM at only 20 CFM means it runs off a shop compressor, and it takes 3/4 in. round slotted steel.

Tamco/Toku THD1100N Rock Drill
A lightweight D-handled drill that packs 3,200 BPM and 350 RPM into 11.4 lb — the fastest rotation in the Toku line, built for production hole drilling in concrete and masonry. Because of its rotation direction this tool must run Whirlibit-Speed drill bits only.

Tamco/Toku TJ-20 Rock Drill
A 2-11/16 in. piston — the largest bore of any Toku hand drill — driving 2,400 BPM through 40.7 lb of tool. Step up from the TJ-15 when the rock is harder or the holes are deeper and you have the 87.5 CFM to feed it. Includes a removable Clear-View in-line oiler.

The CP-9A and THD1100N run best at 80-90 PSI — exceeding 90 PSI can cause internal damage. The THD1100N must use Whirlibit-Speed drill bits only because of its rotation direction. The TJ-15 and TJ-20 include removable Clear-View in-line oilers and accept optional mufflers.

What is a pneumatic rock drill?
A hand-held air tool that combines percussion with rotation: the piston hammers the drill steel while the tool rotates it, so the bit chips and clears rock rather than just pounding it. It is the standard way to put anchor, dowel and blast holes into rock, concrete and masonry without a rig. Sinker drills are used vertically down; jackleg drills add an air-powered feed leg for horizontal work.
Which Toku rock drill should I buy?
By weight and air supply. The CP-9A (8 lb, 20 CFM) and THD1100N (11.4 lb, 28.3 CFM) are compact D-handled drills for anchor holes and tight spaces. The TJ-15 (30.8 lb, 56 CFM) is the general-purpose choice for road, shaft and quarry work. The TJ-20 (40.7 lb, 87.5 CFM) hits harder in hard rock. The TS-55 (59.4 lb, 91.8 CFM) is for the largest bits and deepest holes.
Why does the THD1100N need special bits?
Its rotation direction means it must run Whirlibit-Speed drill bits only. Standard bits can loosen in use. This is a manufacturer requirement, not a preference — call us if you are unsure what you have.
What compressor do I need to run one?
From 20 CFM for the CP-9A up to about 92 CFM for the TS-55, at 90 PSI. Size up around 25 percent for hose losses. See the air compressor buyer’s guide.
What drill steel and bits fit these?

Do the TJ drills come with an oiler?
Yes — the TJ-15 and TJ-20 include removable Clear-View in-line oilers. Keeping a rock drill oiled is the single biggest factor in how long it lasts; we stock replacement line oilers and hose.
