Constant Feed vs. Pressure Feed
A constant-feed oiler uses gravity or capillary action through an adjustable needle valve to drip oil into the line, drop by drop. A pressure-feed oiler sits in the pressurized line and meters oil into the flow with a feed screw, which is what holds up on a long hose run to a breaker or a drill.
Sizing an Oiler
Match the oiler to the port size on your hose and to the tool’s air draw. Reservoirs run 1.4 to 16 oz on the compact in-line units, 45 fl oz on the Tamco, 1.5 pints on the Joy football style, and up to 12 gallons on a shop unit. Fitting sizes are 1/2, 3/4 and 1 in. NPT, and a bigger reservoir means fewer refills across a shift.

Hose, Whips and Whip Checks
The hose side of this category is the line itself and the safety hardware on it. CP Red X lay-flat air hose comes in 3/4 and 1 in. with a synthetic rubber tube, textile braid and an abrasion- and ozone-resistant red jacket. A 6 ft, 1/2 in. hose whip in 300 psi fabric braid goes between the contractor hose and the tool to absorb vibration and take stress off the fittings. Hydraulic tool work uses 2,000 psi hose sets supplied as matched supply and return.
Common Questions
Do air tools really need an oiler? Yes, unless the tool has its own lubrication system. Compressed air scrubs oil off internal parts, and a dry breaker or drill wears its piston and bushings fast. Use the correct pneumatic tool oil, not motor oil.
What is an in-line lubricator? A small reservoir plumbed into the air line ahead of the tool. Oil flows into the air each time the tool is triggered, and a metering valve sets the rate. A sight disk lets you check the level without breaking the line.
