Club rods also called drifter rods are heavy-duty drill rods for tunneling, drifting and benching, built to withstand high-impact loads while transferring energy efficiently from the drills shank adapter to the rock. Rods run 1 in. to 1-3/8 in. hex, with 1 in. round also offered, in lengths from 6 ft 4 in. to 18 ft 1-1/2 in.; left-side threads are R32, R38 and T38 with right-side threads R25 and R32.

Heat-treated alloy steel with nitriding, carburizing or phosphating surface treatment gives these rods their fatigue and wear resistance, and precision-machined threads keep couplings tight and torque transfer efficient. Club rods carry the drifting and bolting rounds that deeper strings hand to extension rods, feeding carbide rock drill bits on development headings, bench holes and roof bolts; the article on choosing drill steel and rock drill bits matches rod, thread and bit to your drill and ground.
