The Spear Hole Saver is a recovery tool for drill steel left downhole: threaded to match your string, it engages broken or uncoupled extension rod steel so the rod and the hole already drilled can be pulled and saved instead of abandoned. Thread options cover GT60, 1 in. rope (R25), 1-1/4 in. rope (R32), 1-1/2 in. rope (R38), T38, T45 and T51.
Losing steel in a hole usually means losing the hole; a matched-thread spear saves both, which is why crews keep one per thread system in the steel rack. Dress recovered joints with Jet Lube thread lubricant before they go back to work, and for flushing passages plugged with rock or clay rather than lost steel the drill steel unplugger is the companion tool.
