Gas, Air, or Hydraulic
Power source is the first decision and it follows the site, not the post. Gas drivers carry their own engine and go anywhere, which suits ranch and remote fence work. Pneumatic drivers suit crews already running an air compressor and driving all day. Hydraulic drivers hit hardest for guardrail and sign posts off a power pack.
Mounted Driving and Rail Work
Once the count runs into hundreds of posts, hang the driver on a carrier. The Rhino mounted and solar pile drivers put an adjustable mast on a skid steer or tractor for solar-farm pile, guardrail runs, and repeatable plumb driving off the carrier’s hydraulics. Rail tampers do the opposite job on track, consolidating ballast under ties and around turnouts.
Chucks, Caps, and Removal

Common Questions
Do you have a guardrail post driver? Yes — heavy handheld and mounted units both drive guardrail. The PD-200 handles guardrail and pile by hand, and the mounted Solar Pro / Guardrail Pro does it in volume off a carrier.
What drives square sign posts? A driver fitted with the right chuck or drive cap. Match the post section to a master chuck or cap from the PD series accessories; tell us the post dimension and we will confirm the fit.
Is a post pounder the same as a post driver? Yes. Post pounder, post puncher, and post driver all describe the same powered tool that drives a post into the ground without a manual sledge.
Can I run a post driver off my compressor? A pneumatic driver, yes — check the model’s CFM against what your machine delivers at working pressure, and allow for the hose run. Gas drivers need no air at all, and hydraulic drivers take flow from a pack or carrier instead.
