Chicago Pneumatic Air Impact Wrenches
Pistol and D-handle impact wrenches from 1/4 in. through 1-1/2 in. drive — tire shop, fleet, heavy equipment, and structural bolting.

Air Impact Wrenches
The broadest air impact line CP builds: light 1/4 and 3/8 in. tools for assembly benches, the 1/2 in. workhorses that live in tire bays, 3/4 and 1 in. tools for truck and off-road wheel work, and #5 spline machines for structural and heavy-equipment fasteners. Torque-limited (TL) versions cap output so wheel studs survive the impact gun.

Chicago Pneumatic Air Ratchet Wrenches
1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 in. drive air ratchets for fastener work in clearances an impact gun cannot reach.

Air Ratchet Wrenches
An air ratchet does what a socket wrench does, faster, in the same tight space — low-profile heads, reversible in the palm, and no cordless battery to charge. CP builds them in 1/4 in. for interior and electronics work through 1/2 in. for suspension and driveline fasteners.

Chicago Pneumatic Air Grinders
Die grinders, pencil grinders, angle grinders, straight grinders, and vertical grinders for deburring, weld dressing, and stock removal.

Air Grinders
Air grinders run cooler than electric under continuous load and do not care about duty cycle — which is why fab shops, foundries, and weld cells buy them by the dozen. The line runs from a 60,000 rpm pencil grinder for fine die work up to vertical and angle grinders sized for heavy stock removal.

Chicago Pneumatic Air Sanders & Polishers
Random orbital sanders, belt sanders, rotary sanders, and polishers for body shop, paint prep, and surface finishing.

Air Sanders & Polishers
Air sanders are the body-shop default because they run cool, weigh little, and shrug off the dust that kills brushed electric motors. CP covers 2 in. spot sanders through 6 in. random orbitals, plus belt sanders for weld and seam work and polishers for cut-and-buff.

Chicago Pneumatic Air Drills
Pistol-grip pneumatic drills from 1/4 through 1/2 in. chuck, including ATEX-rated models for classified areas.

Air Drills
An air drill will stall against the work and restart without burning up, so production and MRO crews run them where an electric drill would cook. CP’s range covers high-speed 4,500 rpm assembly drills through low-speed reversible 1/2 in. tools with the torque for stainless.

High-speed assembly drilling with fine feed control.
Chicago Pneumatic Air Screwdrivers
Direct drive, cushion clutch, shut-off clutch, and impact screwdrivers for production fastener installation.

Air Screwdrivers
The clutch is the whole decision. Direct drive is cheapest and fastest but leaves torque to the operator; cushion clutch softens the seat; shut-off clutch stops the motor at a set torque so every fastener lands the same. Assembly lines with a torque spec buy shut-off.
Direct Drive
Direct drive · no clutch
Fast, low-cost driving where the operator controls final torque.
Impact Screwdriver
Impact mechanism
Driving into hard joints without the reaction an inline driver puts on the wrist.
Impact Screwdriver

What is the difference between Chicago Pneumatic industrial tools and CP construction tools?
They are two separate product lines that share one brand. The industrial and workshop range on this page is built for shops and plants — impact wrenches, ratchets, grinders, sanders, drills, screwdrivers, riveting tools, air motors and service-bay equipment. The construction range is heavy handheld demolition and drilling gear: paving breakers, jackhammers, rock drills, rivet busters, chipping hammers, needle scalers, backfill tampers, hydraulic breakers and post drivers. Crowder Supply stocks both. Construction tools are on our Chicago Pneumatic construction page.
What size air compressor do I need to run Chicago Pneumatic air tools?
Size the compressor to the tool’s CFM at 90 psi, then add roughly 25 percent for hose and fitting losses. Small die grinders, ratchets and screwdrivers typically want a few CFM; 1/2 in. impact wrenches and 6 in. sanders want considerably more; 1 in. and larger impacts and continuous-duty grinders are the biggest draw on the page. Every CFM figure is listed on the individual product page. Running two tools off one compressor means adding their CFM together, not averaging them. Call 1-888-883-5144 if you want us to check a tool against the compressor you already own.
Do you sell Chicago Pneumatic parts and accessories?
Yes — more than 1,200 genuine CP accessories and service parts, including impact sockets, abrasives, chisels and scaler needles, collets, backing pads, hoses and couplers, FRL units, air-tool oil and tune-up kits. Start on the CP accessories and parts page or our parts lookup. If you know the tool model number, call 1-888-883-5144 and we will identify the part number for you.
Are these genuine Chicago Pneumatic tools, not aftermarket copies?
Every tool and part on this page is genuine Chicago Pneumatic, bought through the factory channel. Crowder Supply is a stocking CP dealer, so tools carry the full factory warranty and the parts we sell are the same parts CP builds the tools with.
Impact wrench or ratchet wrench — which one do I need?
An impact wrench delivers hammer blows for breakaway torque: seized bolts, wheel nuts, suspension and structural fasteners. An air ratchet works like a socket wrench with a motor — far less torque, but a low-profile head that fits where an impact gun will not, and much better control on fasteners you do not want to shear. Most bays own both. If the fastener has a torque spec, finish it with a torque wrench, not the impact gun.
What is the difference between direct drive, cushion clutch and shut-off clutch screwdrivers?
Direct drive has no clutch: fastest and cheapest, with final torque left to the operator. A cushion clutch softens the moment the fastener seats, which protects gaskets, plastics and painted surfaces. A shut-off clutch stops the motor at a preset torque so every fastener lands on the same value — that is what production lines with a documented torque spec buy. See all four types on the air screwdrivers page.
Does Chicago Pneumatic make cordless tools?
A small range, yes — 18 V cordless impact wrenches, battery torque wrenches and a cordless tire buffer, on the cordless and electric tools page. CP is an air-tool manufacturer first and the cordless line is deliberately narrow, built for in-field bolting where dragging a compressor and hose is not practical. If you want a broad cordless platform for a whole shop, CP is not the brand to build it on; if you want the best air tool for a job that has shop air, it very much is.
Do you sell Chicago Pneumatic air compressors?
We quote CP portable and stationary compressors on request rather than stocking them on the shelf, and we can supply service parts and manuals for CP compressor models. Call 1-888-883-5144 with the model number for current pricing and lead time. The compressors we do stock today are in air compressors.
Is Chicago Pneumatic the same company as Atlas Copco?
Chicago Pneumatic has been part of the Atlas Copco Group since 1987 and is still built and sold as its own brand. In 2018 Atlas Copco spun off its mining and infrastructure business as Epiroc, and the CP hydraulic excavator attachment range moved into the Epiroc line at that time. The industrial and workshop tools on this page continue as a Chicago Pneumatic product line. We also stock Atlas Copco handheld construction tools if you are comparing the two.
Where can I buy Chicago Pneumatic industrial tools?
Here. Crowder Supply is a stocking Chicago Pneumatic dealer in Denver, Colorado, shipping nationwide. Prices on this page are live from our catalog, in-stock tools ship the same day on orders placed by 4 PM Eastern, and most air tools go free by UPS Ground. For quote-only items, volume pricing, or help spec’ing a tool, call 1-888-883-5144.
